I'm all ears for Black Dog Institute's Mullets for Mental Health.
9 people in Australia die by suicide every day. Over 75% of mental health problems occur before the age of 25.
This April, I'll be rocking a mullet to raise funds and show I'm all ears for better mental health.
My mullet and funds raised will help us drive real change and fund ground-breaking mental health research. This will put digital services and education into the hands of people who need it the most.

Ford you are an absolute legend mate, and as firefighters we are honored to support you with a donation and also help you with your event on the day. Good mental health is definitely something we advocate in the fire service and we need that support quite often in the role we do. The fact you are also donating your hair to Hair with heart just shows us what a massive heart you have to not just support one but two charities at the same time. Your are also having your mullet chopped off on International firefighters day (St Florians days, the patron saint of firefighters) which makes you our absolute hero. Today is the day my mullets get cut off. But just like everyone to take a minute for our amazing firefighters.. very special day for them international firefighters day

Just a update on things
Saturday 20th Apr 1st , I would like to thank every single person who has absolutely supported me & also everyone who has been behind the scene .There is only 10 days to go until it comes to a end . I have raised so far $3236 that’s because of so many people that have donated, so if it was for any of you I wouldn’t be where I am today. You are all amazing and all the message have been absolutely incredible. Also want to thank my school , Lara lakes primary for the amazing support.also to my football club Lara for supporting me aswell. Geelong independent, our local paper, Geelong news now for also being on board and going to be there on my last part of my journey. Also to fire rescue Victoria fire station 61 Lara fire fighter. And also to another local Kim Ballantyne from cuts on Calvert who is got the job to actually cut my mullet off . Also massive thank you to Troy candy for speaking to me and sharing my story. As many know my mullet will be cut on the 4th of may at 3:30pm at Lara fire station 25 mills rd Lara , for anyone who would like to be apart of the day. Also it is a very special day for all our firefighters it is international firefighters day. We just want everyone who does want to come please , keep a clear path around the station, so that can get there trucks out if thay have a called out please. We will be able to give you all on that day my final total. I am hoping that I will be able to meet some of you that have supported me through my journey . Update about where my mullet will be cut off
Monday 15th Apr We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone single person who has supported me. I only have 15 more days to go and with everyone’s help me , so far I have been able to raised $2970. Also we want to say a massive thank you to Kim Ballantyne from Cuts On Calvert & also to Fire Rescue Vic , Fire Station 61 Lara firefighters, for allowing fords mullet to be cut off there on the 4th of may at 3:30 pm 25 mills rd Lara. Also that day is International Firefighters Day ( St Florian’s Days The Patron Saint Of Firefighters Day) . As we have had many people that would like to be there the day his mullet is cut off, and is being donated to another charity up in Sydney. Monday 8th Apr And just wanting to say a massive thank you to FIRE RESCUE VIC FIRE STATION 61 Lara firefighters. 25 mills rd Lara. For the amazing work and effort for allowing me to be apart of a special day for you all and allowing my mullet to be cut off at your station in Lara.Just letting everyone know , we have someone local that has come on board with fords fundraising for mullets4mentalhealth all money goes to black dog institute. As many of you know how much ford never wanted to get rid of his mullet , ford is having mullet cut off on the 4th of may at 3:30 pm and he is donated his hair to hair with hearts for cancer patients who are needing hair. Also the 4th of may is international firefighters day ,(St Florian’s day the patron saint of fire fighters day) . So fords mullet is being cut of at Fire Rescue Vic Fire Station 61 Lara firefighters . Address is 25 mills rd Lara . For those who are wanting to be there please just remember we have to keep clear so if there is a call out the firefighters will still be able to get out . There is a football ground right across the road from them people will be able to park. . So ford is now in his 8 th day of his fundraising campaign and so far has raised $2910 he is so great full to every single person who has helped him on his journey. Sunday 7th Apr Well we have to thank everyone who has supported , our little man in every way possible. as you all know ford is doing his 1st mullets4mentalhealth, with all money going to black dog institute. Ford is in his 7th day of raising funds and has absolutely reach over his goal off $2500 . Our family and ford can’t thank you all enough with the love and support. And you all know who you are. Fords is going 2 bigger than just growing his mullet . Ford is cutting his mullet fully off on 4th of may at 3:30pm . There is possibly a change to where ford’s mullet will be cut off. And ford’s hair he is donating to hair with hearts which helps other people who are needing hair. We will update everyone when we have more details. As ford has had some very amazing emergency services of our community come on board . And ford is hoping to absolutely would love to meet and being allowed to welcome people who have supported him in sharing his post and who have donated to the awareness to be able to be apart of this day. Ford still raising fund until the 30th of April. Monday 1st Apr Well the day has come . Today is the day ford’s journey starts. For the whole month of April ford will grow his mullet and is raising awareness for mental health. Ford wants to thank everyone who has supported him so far. Fords mullet will be cut off and be sent up to Sydney on the 4th of may at 3.30 pm . It will be done before his 11th birthday party on the same day. It will be cut at his home for anyone that does want to be here to see his mullet go . .If we could at least get people to share it out or if anyone would like to donate a small donation Ford Millican would appreciate it . Update ready for the month of April
Sunday 31st Mar Tomorrow is the day that mullets for mental health starts and it finishes on the 30th of April 2024 , then I will only have my mullet for a couple of days then the big chop comes to say good bye to it . Which is the 4th of may 2024. My mullet will be sent up to Sydney to hair with hearts to make wigs for other people in need. I have to absolutely say a massive thank you for everyone has supported me so far , and I still have much support right through the month of April. You all need to know it is you awesome people from our community and from Victoria who have got me to here, and you have all helped with supporting mental health awareness. All money goes straight to to the black dog institute. Ford is sitting 17th on the ladder out of 1275 individual people. Also like to thank some people who have allowed my story to get out there geelong independent paper , Lara lakes primary school, Freddie choice, Geelong news now , my family and freinds. Tuesday 12th Mar Ford has raised so far over $1900 , for mullets for mental health . He made the paper Geelong independent and this week he has made the news in our region which will go world wide and on all social media platforms . If people could still shared it out or would like to put a small donation anything small as a $1.00 he would much appreciate it. And he does want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported and donated in every way . He is raising money until the 30th of April all money goes to the black dog institute. Thursday 15th Feb Hi my name is Ford millican, I am from Lara Victoria. I am only 10 years of age and I am in grade 5 at Lara Lake primary school. I love football and I play footballI am doing my every 1st fundraiser for mullets for mental health. So I sign up on the 29/01/24 and will be growing my mullet until the 30/04/24. So I am trying to get as much funds as I could for an absolutely great cause. So once the 30/04/24 has come I am actually cutting of all my mullet. Unfortunately I did want my mullet to go to waste , So on the 30/01/24 I had the privilege to be able to sign up with Hair with heart for my hair to be donated to them after the 30/04/24. Which my hair will be used to make wigs for people who have lost their hair from medical conditions. I have raised so far $1222.00 with all the money going straight to the black dog institute. I just want to thank everyone who is supporting by either sharing it and also the amazing donations. You are all legends. I was hoping if there was a chance everyone would beable to keep sharing it out or if anyone would like to put a small donation. To show there love and support with mental health. Monday 12th Feb Wow, I am lost for words, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone, who has supported. My journey so far, absolutely legends. My name is ford, I live in Lara Victoria, I am in grade 5 at Lara lakes primary school, I love all sports . Ford is raising and pushing right until the 30th of April . Ford has raised $613 and is only $200 away from being in the top 10. Ford is really thankful for so many people who he doesn’t know that has given him so much support , kind words and the amazing donations. Fords said you are absolutely legends. I am growing my mullet to see how long I can get it until the 30th of April and then after that my mullet will all be cut off. I am doing this for mental health.
